Chalkbarn Joinery

In 20I2 I began making Joinery and Furniture in the present location near Powerstock, Bridport, West Dorset. Our workshop is a few miles inland in a farmyard barn which is built of chalk from Eggardon Hill, an iron age hillfort.

I started professionally woodworking in 2000, learning traditional techniques at a local company which specialised in the conservation of old buildings.

We now work on projects with Local Builders, Architects, and for members of the public in and around Bridport. Most of the work is taken through word of mouth, and recommendations locally form the majority of what we do. This is made up of Joinery for both Old and New buildings, particularly Listed Buildings. All types of Windows and Doors, single and double glazed, Kitchens, Staircases, Built
in and free standing furniture and cabinets.

In all circumstances the work is to a high level of craftsmanship, using the best possible materials, which are responsibly sourced. Particularly we are conscious of avoiding the use of unsustainable timber species, focussing on environmental responsibility and durability.

The estate where we are based also supply, when available, timber from local woodland.
